Great Episode of Studio 60 on Hulu

April 19, 2009

This is a great episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, guest starring Allison Janney (as herself). You may also pick up the dude that plays Moist.

Just for the record, as a writer, I worship at the Aaron Sorkin altar, and would gleefully sacrifice any of you to be imbued with his skill.

Dr Horrible & Its Always Sunny at Paley Fest

April 18, 2009
The Paley Center has uploaded 2 videos from PaleyFest 09. One is from a panel featuring Dr Horrible's crew (three Whedons, a Fillion, a Day and a Whedon-to-be), and the other is with the principle cast from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, Paley's player doesn't have share/embed codes, so I can't show you the video. And that gets chalked up as a fail to me.

There are no words

There really are no words to express how awesome this is.

More Credible Dr. Horrible 2 Rumors

April 16, 2009
Joss Whedon's quote on io9.com reveals quite a bit about a possible Dr. Horrible 2.

1. the story for the sequel will be bigger than the 45 minute original.
2. the script, however, hasn't been written.
3. the Mutant Enemy crew hasn't decided on a release vehicle (web vs. theater) yet.

Maurissa Tancharoen has also said that Felicia Day may return as a resurrected Penny. The tease was that Dr. H 2 will be a sequel, rather than the easier to explain her not being dead prequel.

Either way, when do we get in line?

Inglorious Basterds Trailer

Hulu just added the first (that I know of) trailer for Quentin Tarantino's new film Inglorious Basterds. Brad Pitt and Mike Meyers are prominent in the 40 second teaser, so is some obnoxious behind-the-scenes footage. Still, looks full of Tarantino style awesome.

Let's Go Flyers! (Clap Clap - Clap Clap Clap)

April 14, 2009

This commercial for BostonBruinsTV, a very under publicized video site for NHL teams. The commercial underscores a very important rule in hockey. Rivalries do reach into the bedroom. Especially in the Northeast. Personally, I would never consider dating a Rangers or Devils fan. Maybe a Canucks fan.

Anyway, the commercial starts off great, but sort of putters out. Could have lead to some epic laughs, but the team just didn't fully commit. You pull a guy's jersey over his head you are obliged to start punching him. Its almost disrespectful not to hit a guy at that point. Nevertheless, decent commercial, and a great website for any Bruins fan.

The Most Epic Video Ever To Find The Internet

College Humor > Everybody else.

I am a horrible person

I didn't realize how long its been since I've posted anything. I got caught up in an exciting playoff run and did managed to catch four hockey games in the span of about a week and a half.

I was at the last regular season hockey game at The Spectrum, and saw the final banner raised to the rafters. I cheered as my Philadelphia Phantoms beat our arch rival Hershey Bears to qualify for a playoff birth in the Calder Cup. I was in Hershey to see the Bears get revenge and lock in a first round Phantoms/Bears match-up in the "second season".

I've been completely engulfed in hockey for the last week. Now there's a little rest before both the Phantoms/Bears and Flyers/Penguins series get underway so I'm hoping to get back into the groove of posting.

I had secured an interview with the creative team behind Transylvania TV, a fun little puppet show with the irreverent spirit of Greg the Bunny. So I have to get on that.

There are also some new videos out I want to take a look at, and Sarah Silverman's return to Pilot Season debuts on MDC very soon.

On the Hulu side of things, there really isn't too much to jump up and down about. I have been watching my regular shows, and have to admit that even though the good money is on Dollhouse getting canceled, the latest episode finally caught my attention.

Rescue Me season 5 is on an air date +8 schedule, so the season premier will show up Wednesday morning in our queues. Until then, I'm stuck scouring the archives.

Team NinjaShark Production Meetings Rule

April 6, 2009
Four of us had a pretty productive meeting over the weekend. Blaine, Levi, Tom and myself sat down and did put together some strategery for the coming summer.

We started gaming planning for 48 Hour Film Fest/Philly and Project Twenty 1 - a 21 day variant on the 48H Film Fest.

Levi, AKA Doctor Octoroc, is working on our logo and our little post credit animation. Our animated logo is the Ninja Shark spin kicking into frame and then hitting the Elvis Presley kung-fu pose. I mean, come on. How bad ass is that?

Anyway, the weekend was busy. Besides the Team NinjaShark meeting, I also hit up Wings and Phantoms games and, of course, watched my beloved Phillies' season opener.

We'll resume normal posting eventually.

Opening Day With MLB.tv Premium

I'm settling in for Opening Day, and while I wait for the Mets & Reds to kick-off, I just wanted to share some initial impressions of Major League Baseball's new MLB.tv Premium service.

After a couple seasons with their regular .tv service, MLB rebuilt the video player from the ground up. The service, despite some technical glitches the last few days, is amazing. Some new features:

- Live DVR capabilities.
- 2 or 4 game split screen
- Mix & match video & audio (watch the national telecast with the home radio audio, for instance)
- in game highlights
- Fantasy tracker (catch at bats for players on your fantasy team)

The service is fantastic, and for a baseball nutcase (like me), its hard to beat. As a matter of fact, the only change I would make, and this is a real nit-picky thing, but the video isn't scalable. You can change the window size by grabbing the corner and dragging, but the video is at a fixed resolution.

Its obvious a lot of time and work went into this new player, and for those who have MLB.tv's basic service, I would encourage you to at least test out the new Premium format soon.

Now, if only we can get Joe Morgan and Jon Miller off the national broadcasts...

Update: NewTeeVee's Om Malik has had a different experience with the new player. His Mac/Firefox and Mac/Safari combination has had issues the last three days. I'm now having some sync problems with the Los Angeles Dodgers/San Diego Padres game. Malik's review: Gigaom.com.
